cedesol - Bolivia

Cedesol works with women and communities across Bolivia to provide affordable access to rocket stoves, a clean-burning stove that reduces firewood consumption by seventy percent.  Bolivia is South America’s poorest country; many of the communities where Cedesol works are in the Bolivian highlands where firewood is scarce.

Cedesol makes rocket stoves affordable to every Bolivian who wants one by working with non-profits, micro-finance institutes, and other organizations to subsidize their cost.  By lowering the cost but not eliminating it, Cedesol ensures that the user values the stove as an investment.  Users find that the stove pays for itself in three months of saved fuel cost.  Through educational workshops, families also learn that their rocket stove is an investment in their health and in their environment.

How to Support Cedesol

You can help subsidize a rocket stove so that any Bolivian can afford one.  Every $12 you donate will be matched by a $15 additional subsidy from GTZ, an international organization that promotes sustainable development.

Donations to this Bolivian non-profit can be made here through the Give Meaning web service.  Because Cedesol is based in Bolivia, no US tax deductions are available at this time.
